Persian Varamin
Carpet, Varamin rugs and runners are of excellent quality.Varamin carpets and rugs come in different sizes, but the majority of them are mid-size (4 x 6 to 8 x 10 feet). Dark brown and dark red on khaki or dark blue backgrounds are the main colors used in Varamin rugs and carpets.Soft wool; thin, tight pile.Warps and wefts are mostly cotton. The village and workshop weavers mainly use the asymmetrical (Persian) knot, while the nomads, depending on their ethnicity, use either the asymmetrical or the symmetrical (Turkish) knot. Varamin is located 40 km (25 Miles) southeast of Tehran and is one of the largest and oldest villages of Iran. It is located in a highly fertile plain, and its main districts are Pishva and Gharachak. The grand Jami' Mosque with its Ilkhan period architecture and tile work, as well as the Sultan Aladdin Tower, Imamzadeh Yahya and Iraj Tower, are all indications of Varamin's past.
